Zero Tolerance Policy
Keep It Positive!
USA Hockey is committed to making ice hockey a fun, rewarding, and safe experience for everyone involved. To promote sportsmanship and maintain a positive environment, the Officiating Program has implemented a Zero Tolerance Policy for unsportsmanlike behavior. This applies to players, coaches, officials, team staff, parents, and spectators at all USA Hockey-sanctioned games.
On-ice officials are empowered to stop the game if any parent or spectator displays inappropriate or disruptive behavior that interferes with the enjoyment of the game or safety of others. Violators will be identified, removed from the viewing area, and potentially face further disciplinary action from the local governing body.

Examples of Disruptive Behavior Include:
- Using obscene or vulgar language directed at anyone in a loud or disruptive manner
- Taunting, baiting, ridiculing, or threatening players, coaches, officials, or other spectators
- Throwing objects in the viewing area, on the ice, or in other areas in a way that creates a safety hazard
Let’s work together to create an uplifting and supportive atmosphere before, during, and after every game. Hockey is about teamwork, respect, and enjoying the sport we all love—so let’s keep it that way!
