What if I have a grievance?

The Rock Ridge Youth Hockey Association (RRYHA) has a structured chain of command for addressing grievances to ensure concerns are handled efficiently and fairly. Per the 24-hour rule, any concerns or grievances must not be addressed immediately after a game or practice; instead, individuals should wait at least 24 hours before initiating a discussion. This rule helps promote thoughtful and respectful communication.

  • Initially, any issues should be discussed directly between the parties involved, such as a player and coach or a parent and team manager.
  • If the issue remains unresolved, it should be brought to the appropriate level coordinator (Mite, Squirt, Girls’ Program, etc.).
  • If further escalation is needed, the grievance is then directed to the Hockey Operations Committee (HOC), which will review the matter in accordance with RRYHA policies. The HOC may involve the Youth Hockey Director, Head Varsity Coach, or other relevant committee members to reach a resolution.

By following this chain of command and adhering to the 24-hour rule, RRYHA ensures that all concerns are addressed in an organized, respectful, and impartial manner.
